My new-ish 2015 Mazda6 iTouring 6MT!
I finally get up daily a car with a manual again. Am thrilled. The gas mileage is a pretty nice prize too.

Nice. What kind of mileage?

Ah I see you got the quintessential Jalop-special midsize sedan

Got 35mpg on the highway at 75 on the way back home... With low tire pressure, as it turned out. Doing 29.5 mpg on my work commute. My old car did about 19 on the work commute and about 25 highway. So this is a big upgrade.

This seemed like the crowd to approve.

Very nice. As others will know because of my crying about it every time someone posts a Mazda 6, I owned one for a short period. Loved that car with a passion.

Wow, nice. I keep thinking about replacing my wife’s car with something more efficient for her highway commute. She loves the looks of the latest gen of Mazda, and really wants a manual if possible. Hmmm

Talk about a choice find - my understanding is that the manuals are hard to come by. How’s the shifter and clutch feel?

Thanks!

Fantastic. Well done.

The clutch could be more firm for my tastes, but it gives enough feedback that I don’t have trouble finding the friction point even with thick soled shoes on. The shifter also isn’t bad. Obviously, it doesn’t have the feel of a true linkage-style shifter that you get in a rear drive car, but it’s far from bad. Shifts are smooth and you can immediately feel if something isn’t right before you start hearing synchros grinding.
The pedals are a hidden gem on this car, for me. They are laid out so it’s really quite easy to heal-toe... Even in city driving when you’re not braking hard. It’s much easier than in my mustang. Really glad I chose it over the Accord Sport...I don’t think I could have bent my foot in such a way to touch both the brake and the throttle in that car. (Also... There’s not much sport in the Accord Sport).

Also, I drove three States away to get this one. There’s a bunch of these available if you’re willing to take a trip to go get it.

That’s crazy that’s the same as my wife’s Honda Fit

I test drove one while waiting for my old FiST to get serviced. I enjoyed the 6 thoroughly but I much preferred the Fiesta ST for obvious reasons. When it (the FiST, not the 6) developed a case of Ford-itis after an out of state dealer touched it inappropriately, I considered the 6 as a car to replace it with. Life found a way and provided me with a Focus ST for a significant discount and while the improved fuel economy would be nice, the 6 isn’t in the cards.....yet.
I’ve told the girl that the most compromise I will make if we have kids is to get a manual mazda 6. She likes the interior too so she can’t complain about being in it. I am slowly trying to convince her to get a mazda 6 herself when her old lexus dies.

2002 Chrysler 300M Special. Tough to find replacement parts to keep it on the road, so I thought it was time to move on.
